The Journeyman Automotive Technician is responsible for ensuring the dealership maintains excellent guest relationships by completing quality repairs on guest vehicles. The position is responsible for diagnosing issues, recommending repairs, and quality workmanship. The Journeyman Automotive Technician takes direction and is accountable to the Service Manager and/or the Shop Foreman.

Qualifications/Skills Required

• Journeyman Licensed Automotive Technician
• Valid Drivers' License with clean abstract
• Exceptional multitasker and time manager; organized and detailed
• Exceptional knowledge with computer based diagnostic equipment
• Ability to find solutions and resolve issues with vehicles, excellent problem solver
• Excellent communicator with exceptional oral and written skills
• Driven to provide outstanding customer experiences
• Exhibits sound judgment, empathy, and integrity
• Has expert product knowledge; OEM training
• Full understanding of regulations, laws and required compliance in the Automotive Industry including OEM warranty policies and procedures
• Computer proficient
• Self starter; able to work as a team; ability to mentor apprentice technicians
• Must have own tools
• WHMIS training
• CDK, XTime, PBS and One Eighty experience is an asset
• Physically able to lift 10-60 lbs
• Efficient flat rate technician

Primary Responsibilities

• Diagnose, and analyze issues with vehicles, recommend repairs to Service Advisors before proceeding, provide quality repairs with a fixed right the first-time mentality
• Repair vehicles under warranty according to the OEM specifications
• Positive attitude who can provide support to other technicians in a team environment
• Continuously communicate accurate information to Service Advisors in order to complete repairs efficiently
• Completion of Out of province Inspections, PDI work orders and internal vehicle repairs
• Relay and communicate with guests when required to ensure they understand the required repairs
• Remain up to date with the OEM training modules, and industry leading techniques for repairs
• Create a positive work environment, a clean workstation, support other staff members including Service Advisors, and lead by example
• Ensure the Team follows all current company policies, processes, and procedures
• Comply with any WorkSafe requirements, and safety protocols;
• Support of all other dealership operations including Parts, Sales and Accounting to promote cooperation and a Team environment;
• Undertake all other tasks that may be delegated to you under the supervision of the Service Manager and/or Shop Foreman
