Jeep Gladiator 2025: Manual Transmission Eliminated

2024-09-25

Jeep has officially introduced the 2025 Gladiator with a few eagerly awaited updates, along with some less welcome changes. The 4xe version is finally being added to the model's lineup.

However, the American automaker's pickup truck is losing its manual transmission for this new edition. It's unfortunate, but I'm not surprised by the decision. The only available option will now be the 8-speed automatic transmission.

A Few Updates

As is the case every year, Jeep removes and adds features to its pickup truck lineup. For 2025, the Gladiator gets two new colors: Fanthom Blue and Military Olive, the latter directly inspired by the 1941 Jeep Willys. Needless to say, this color is likely to be very popular.

Two Engines

This year, the Jeep Gladiator will offer two mechanical options, starting with the classic 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine. This powertrain delivers 285 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. Equipped with this engine, the American automaker’s truck can tow up to 7,700 pounds.

Although no technical details have been revealed yet, we know that the 4xe version will be added to the Gladiator lineup for 2025. I expect the figures to be very similar to those of the Wrangler 4xe. The latter is powered by a combination of a 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine and two electric motors, producing a total of 375 horsepower and 475 lb-ft of torque. The Wrangler 4xe is capable of covering about 35 kilometers on a full charge in all-electric mode. We expect slightly lower performance from the Gladiator since it is slightly heavier than the Wrangler.

In total, the 2025 Jeep Gladiator will be available in seven different configurations: Sport S, Nighthawk, Willys, Mojave, Mojave X, Rubicon, and Rubicon X. The 4xe variants are not included in this list for now.

The Jeep Gladiator remains by far the best-performing pickup truck when it comes to off-road driving. The first models are expected to arrive at dealerships by the end of the year. As always, this is a model that off-road enthusiasts are eagerly awaiting.
